Ivory Towers

Ivory towers hide me from the powers that be

all the while revealing that the highest

power is the one that lives within me.

The world and its connivery threw all the leftovers

like me into exile and scraped us of our privilege

to slowly rot in solitary.

“The journey on which you embark is nothing more

than a petty lark” they yelled to us as we exited the

kangaroo court.

We were in the eye of a storm the no proclamation

from any weather station could have predicted.

I’m just the fool perched on a lowly wooden

stool.   Who, over and over again in my head rolls

the video tape to remind myself of the spot

from which I came.
